Direct Film Transfer (Vinyl)

Direct Film Transfer also known as (DFT or DTF) is exactly what it sounds like! We print the artwork on a special film and then transfer the design on the film onto the garment. This means that you can print .PNG or JPEG directly onto a garment without having to manipulate your file. In addition to this, unlike other print methods, what you see on the mockup is typically what you end up getting.

Direct Film Transfer Benefits

Direct Film Transfer printing is a great printing method that captures bright colours.

- Simpler file requirements - DFT printing does not require any special file formats. Customers are able to send us PNG or JPEG files and we can print from those files. While other printing methods such as screen printing require vectorized files.

- Durability of Print - DFT prints are more durable than DTG prints. DFT prints wash well and are flexible, meaning they won't crack or peel.

Direct Film Transfer Limitations

Limited printing areas

- When we apply the DFT prints onto a garment we need to achieve the right heat and pressure throughout the DFT Print. Because of this surfaces that are uneven are extremely difficult to print on. If you need to print over seams, we recommend using embroidery

Cannot print gradient edges

- The design's edges cannot be gradients. We are able to print gradients within the design but the border/edge of the designs cannot be gradients.

Direct Film Transfer Care Instructions

Washing Guidelines: Cold Water, Inside Out

Drying Guidelines: Hang dry, or low tumble dry.

Iron: Do not iron the direct film transfer logo directly. Flip the garment inside out and avoid any steaming features.

Bleach + Dry Cleaning: We recommend staying away from these options!
