Direct Film Transfer (Vinyl)

Direct Film Transfer, often referred to as DFT or DTF, is precisely what its name suggests! This process involves printing artwork onto a specialized film, which is then applied to the fabric. As a result, you can directly print .PNG or JPEG files onto garments without needing to alter your original design. Furthermore, unlike many other printing techniques, the final product usually closely resembles what you see in the mockup.

Direct Film Transfer Benefits

Direct Film Transfer (DFT) printing is an excellent method known for its vibrant color reproduction.

- Easier File Submission: One of the advantages of DFT printing is its straightforward file requirements. Customers can easily provide us with PNG or JPEG files for printing, unlike other methods like screen printing, which necessitate vectorized formats.

- Long-lasting Prints: DFT prints offer greater durability compared to Direct-to-Garment (DTG) prints. They hold up well in the wash and maintain flexibility, ensuring that they won’t crack or peel over time.

Direct Film Transfer Limitations

Restricted Printing Areas

- When applying DFT prints to a garment, it's essential to maintain the correct heat and pressure across the entire print. This makes it challenging to print on uneven surfaces. For areas that involve seams, we suggest opting for embroidery instead.

Limitations on Gradient Edges

- While we can incorporate gradients within the design itself, the edges or borders of the design cannot feature gradient effects. This means that the edges must be solid rather than blended.
